Monday!

Why is it that Mondays have such a notorious reputation? I honestly don't think the day of the week makes the difference, but at least today, when things were just...well...just not good, I could blame it on the fact that its Monday.

To anyone that tried to cheer me up today, or sent a sweet word my way - THANK YOU!!!! You have no idea how much it meant to me.
I think I might make this my wallpaper. What do you think? ;)

I'm a brat....

...and I know it! :D
I'm off to visit my grandma on the 21st of December...yeigh!
As I regularly say, why should I pursue a secular carreer that works me to the bone, when I've got an awesome God Who "owns the cattle on a thousand hills and the wealth in every mine"? - And loves to provide my every need and even wants? Huh? Yeah...I rest my case.
Thank You Jesus for Your awesome supply! I love it! (And You!)

This is just TOO awesome!

Guess what? :D

I'm going to get to go to Andrea Bocelli's concert here in Mexico City on the 5th of December!!!! How great is that? Yeigh! I'm sporting a HUGE grin! Thank you, Genai and Adolfo! This is so cool!

I need $350 - :)

I just love moments of excitement when you put the Lord to the test and see what He supplies. My grandma, who I talked with yesterday, is asking if I can go visit her for a few days over Christmas. I haven't seen her in 5 years at least, and the last two times I went for a visa trip to the US she was undergoing surgery (yup, both times), so wasn't healthy enough to have me visit.
She was all alone for Thanksgiving, I think that made her want me to come all the more, and is able to help with something towards my ticket - but she lives off of a pension, so its not that much. I've looked online at ticket prices and it seem the cheapest I can work with leaves me with a need of $350 more. - Wow! Converted into other currencies that's:

270.26 Euros
182.75 British Pounds
428.19 Swiss Franc
3,838.19 Mexican Pesos
40,647.25 Japanese Yen
etc. etc. etc.

So I'm putting this out there for you all to pray for! - If its the Lord's will I'm sure He'll supply, so I'm excited about this. And of course, all donors are always welcome. - Feel free to contact me for details. :D

10 days with 10 things to praise!

The last 10 days have been “whoa” – to say the least. Sorry for leaving that Amazon pic up as the main post for so long, I’m not into myself that much! HA! – Its just been very busy! We just finished meetings at our place, and I’m only now finally managing to slow down and take a morning of conference and Word. – I didn’t realize how wiped I was till last night!

Seeing though that it’s been 10 days since I posted I thought I’d use it as an opportunity for praise time – update you all, and feel refreshed and inspired after too. (Who said updating your blog can’t be edifying? HA!)

1. I’ll start by praising the Lord for the fun Scorpio party we had over at the Mountain Home the other night. I always like parties, so I’ll start with a praise for that.

2. I’ll then go on to praise the Lord that though I got a black eye during one of the games (ahem! – Let’s just say a guy used his fist to punch the balloon and got my eye instead of the balloon) at least I have cover-up, and I was able to hide it quite well.

3. I also want to thank the Lord that though Chris had a foolish time teasing me about that black eye at the market (well, to a few contacts only) he came up with rather original excuses of how I got it, and he’s just such a cool guy to go to the market with, plus I’m so thankful the CTC let us accompany them, so it wasn’t that bad. Thank you!!!!

4. I’m thankful that though I had to sit on my ass for 2 days straight (with no exercise – which is VERY hard for me to survive without) I didn’t have to partake of the full 5 days of meetings. HA!

5. Another thing I get to be praiseful about is that today I will get to work out – so hip-hip-hurrah! I can hardly wait!

6. I’m very praiseful that though I currently have a stuffy head, runny nose, cough, and headache, it will come to pass and I’ll feel so good when I’m all better. :P

7. I’m also appreciative that though the last few days have been freezing (literally – there’s a freezing front that came over Mexico City) the Lord has giving me such a nice room with so many nice windows that let in the sunshine – as it warms up the room in the daytime. (And I have a nice heater for the cooooold nights.)

8. I’m also thankful that though I now have yet more work from the meetings we just had, I feel needed and trusted (whew), and I know it’ll lead me to depend on the Lord more for His grace and strength to get things done.

9. I’m also very praiseful for how though next week and the week after I’ll be holding the fort on my own (seeing as my fellow secretary and bosses are traveling) it might mean I can catch up with work. Yeigh!

10. And last but not least I’m super thankful for the way the Lord supplied a good donation to get more furniture, keep fixing up our house, and get my Christmas mailing sent off, through some contacts of mine, as well as my dear daddy who is now in Hungary visiting the nephews (well, his grandsons). – And on his way to Romania to spend the winter months with my bro. TYJ!

I’m sure I could go on and on, but I’ll stop for now and get back to my Word time. – I just thought to enjoy a different type of praise time activity. ;)

Just for fun!

This is in reference to my post re: guys thinking of "Amazons" due to my "outstanding" height/stature - Hobbyns, what do you think? Close enough to Amazon? :D

Happy Anniversary to me! - 2 years old!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have reached the 2 year mark of living in Mexico! Yes, November 10th, 2004 – quite the day! I flew in to the Mexico City airport and embarked on what has been an incredible time of my life. I don’t know if this is normal, but I know when another year comes around I have a tendency to get all “deep” about it, evaluating what I’ve done, where I’ve been, and asking myself just how far along its taken me in my walk of life and the goals I feel the Lord’s laid out for me. It's actually fun to reminisce about the past in this case, and what I usually look forward to is looking back and hopefully being able to even smile and laugh at the trials that seemed so paramount at the time. – Thanking the Lord that “they came to pass” and that I’ve been able to move on and grow from them.

Arriving in Mexico City was a challenge in itself. Those who were sent to pick me up had never met me and were told, for some reason, that I was a tall, curly, RED haired girl! HA! I guess my hair has many different shades and tints (95% natural), but I didn’t think red was one of them! So yes, it wasn’t until a kind Mexican man offered to lend me his mobile phone that I was able to call and find out who I was looking for. – And lo and behold I found them. - Whew!

The drive back to the CTC was challenge #2 in that we were in thick traffic, I was dead tired, and to add to it those topes (speed bumps) would send the furniture they had just picked up (before picking me up) flying forward (well, you know, the slamming on the brakes part did that – ahem) and something (I was too tired to make out what it was) kept hitting the back of my head. – Each and every time! And for those who have been at the CTC, there were 27 topes at the time (there are more now), and I’m sure we slammed the brakes for each and every one of them. – Needless to say, that made up for a pretty sore head by the time we got there. One of the Junior teens told me their first impression of me though was not of one who was jet-lagging, tired, or having just had a head-banging session, but it seems I was interested in knowing what was going on, if there was a party or something. – I honestly don’t remember that, I must have been hallucinating. (Or perhaps it was the death walk. HA!)

There are too many memories to write about in a simple post, and definitely not enough time for me to go over each and every obstacle that came in the way. – Not to mention the fun adventures that derived from those obstacles. Perhaps the wait for the computer was the longest and hardest for me, two months of “waiting” to be able to start working. – Though trust me, I was kept plenty busy. – I don’t think anyone is able to not be busy if they are at the CTC.

The first year was the hardest though, I’ll give you that! I was warned that everyone that came to the CTC had a huge set of trials to go through, and I nodded in acceptance. – Thinking though that I had already had my trials, my “Jordan”, so it hopefully didn’t apply to me. - Boy, was I wrong! The inspiring part though is that I can now look back at all that and say that I made it. I might have not succeeded with flying colors, I might have not been the winner, but those times came to pass as well, and that part of the race has ended. And like Akhwari (the Tanzanian runner who crossed the finish line in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics an hour after the winner did, bloody and bandaged from a fall, limping with each step), I can say I didn’t give up. – At least that!

For those who know me personally, you’ll know too that I didn’t really “want” to come to Mexico. My heart belongs to Croatia, I just love that land and its people - however ever since accepting to take on the job I do I haven’t really had a choice of where it leads me. I accepted the challenge the Lord laid out for me though when He told me that He needed me to make that move from Europe to Mexico in order to grow and learn the lessons that He said I could only learn here. – And sure enough, He was right, it’s been an incredible time of learning. I don’t want it to sound as if I’m not happy here in Mexico, or as if I’m here against my will. – I honestly am not, and I’m loving this land and its people more and more each day, not to mention I have many friends and loved ones who I wouldn’t have met or gotten to know had I not moved here, so I am happy. I guess I’ve found that surrendering to the Lord’s will, being used by Him however and wherever He sees fit, gives me the fulfillment and satisfaction that I’m doing His will, and I’m assured that He in turn will make it worth it all. – And He has, I am blessed! I can’t say I haven’t doubted or questioned why it sometimes takes so long to see the reasons behind why the Lord has asked some things of me, I know I even now wonder when I’ll grasp the reasons or understand why certain things happened, but at least I know that in God’s good timing I’ll know. – If I need to!

But yes, 2 years! – I feel as if I’ve crossed a boundary, but maybe I haven’t. I’m probably just like a 2 year old who finally learnt to walk and say a few cute words, and doesn’t realize there’s a whole life ahead of them. HA! – Oh well, wish me luck! I’m probably in the “Terrible Twos”. ;)

Alright, enough ranting, now I need to find a way to party and celebrate!!!! – Who’s interested? :D

Back!

Finally, I'm home...I slept in my own room, in my cozy bed, and yes, woke up to the screeching of that falcon we have in our yard (argh!), plus the clanging of the workmen banging I don't know what. Come to think of it, I really don't know what they're banging - they're meant to be building, not breaking. Hmmm...
At any rate, there's no place like home, though I didn't realize how much I missed the CTC until last week! - The great outdoors was lovely (found myself running back and forth a lot, which I don't do here for lack of "safe" outdoors), plus the people, now that's what I really miss, as the cold I could do without (ha!) as well as the EXTREMELY loud week-end nights. Friday night I was tempted to go crash our neighbors' party - it was SOOOOO loud, I might as well have been sitting smack in the middle of it. - Needless to say I didn't get a very good night's sleep that night.
It was a good week though, and everyone there is great and such hard-workers. - I super admire them! We had a delicious meal one night cooked by zee great "J" chefs; Joy, Justin, and Jamie (boy). They didn't want pictures taken, I don't blame them, so yeah, you'll have to take my word for it. :D It was delicious though! Thanks again guys!
Oh, right, I got to meet up with Justin and Linda - Linda I knew from way back younder when I was a wee (more like ugly) lass. Har-har! Such a sweet, lovely, and beautiful couple though. The meeting schedule and their work schedule didn't allow us to chill together, so hanging out with them for fun is still on my "to-do" list, and who knows, maybe Linda and I can dress like amazon women and live up to the picture it seems some men get when they think of us. (Ahem, Mig and Justin!) - Though other than height we're somewhat opposites in looks (i.e. she's got straight black hair, very slim, etc.) so perhaps we can name ourselves "Amazon Salt" and "Amazone Pepper". WDYT? :D
Actually, I did get to spend a couple hours with Linda and Juan (of Ange) out at the cute little zocalo Saturday afternoon. - Had good food, and enjoyed ourselves. Good thing Mexicans are so used to men having a couple women with them, neither of which are their wives. - It didn't make Linda and I stand out too much. Snicker!
There's more to say and perhaps I'll recap it at some point (or as I think of it) but for now I've got to get back to the thoughts of tidying up my room, etc. - I actually have glass curtains now, as well as light fixtures. - How awesome is that? TYJ! - And thanks Ez. Jesus is so good to me! :)
