What do you think?

Mig & Esther had a baby girl on the 25th! She's so cute - head full of hair, and pretty in pink! :)

They came back today and we all gathered in their room for what is becoming quite the tradition - opening some bottles of bubbly and toasting to the mommy and baby. It's fun! One conversation led to another and by the end we were doing that thing where you dangle a gold ring by a hair to figure out how many kids people are going to have (or had) in the order, etc. With some folks it was pretty accurate (seeing as we already knew what they had), and at some point they did it on me. I forgot that I had done that test at least twice before, so figured "hey, let me try that", and, well, hey, the ring didn't move.

So I was like "wow - interesting", until I realized that actually, I have had it done at least twice before (hey, I've been up since 3:00am, at the market all day, I have a blistering headache, you can't blame me for not having a dashing memory), and come to think of it, both of those times it said something different. (I believe once it said 2, and another 1) So I now have three tales from three different rings. HA! (We had another guy go from 7 to 8 - so I'm not the only one that seems to get different stories.)

What do you think though? Have you tried it? Have you found that it changes? I know some folks who are in awe at it, and find it precise, but then...well, what are your thoughts? Pray tell!

Well, what they say is it changes depending on what choices you make in life, etc.
It has been pretty accurate on people I know that have done it.
Dan tried it on me the other night and apparently I will have 9 kids!
Not gonna happen!!
So either it's wrong or I need to change the course of my life!

Please forgive my ignorance (if any) but might that 'ring test' include children you may or may not have in the life to come with Jesus in Heaven as well as any you already have here in this life?

I can only guess what my happen when we go to Heaven, but some of us may decide to undertake tasks which preclude us having spiritual children and partners.

We already know that the law of Love applies in Heaven, even more than it does down here, but I imagine that some of us may need to forgoe having babies 'up there' so that we can concentrate on our much more important tasks for God.

I've found that miscarriages sometimes show up. For example, my mom had 9 kids, but she had one miscarriage, and sometimes the ring says ten. Conversely, sometimes if it was an extremely high-risk pregnancy and you almost lost the baby the ring doesn't tell that one. Crazy stuff, I think it varies according to the time of month.

Wow, Nyna, 9? Awesome! ;) You and Jamie should put your heads together at the "change the course of your life" dealio - she's flustered at her 6. :D

Pete, I have no certainties of what Heaven holds for me, but one thing I do know is that if I ain't having kids in this life, I'm certainly putting in a request for some in Heaven, so either the ring doesn't calculate Heaven, or it has no idea of what my Heaven will be like. ;)

And Tina, I've heard about the miscarriage thing too (well, advanced pregnancies, like fallopian tube, etc.) but the time of month? - That's a new one! How would that work with the guys though? Interesting though!

Well, I'd like to go on record as the first skeptic here and say I believe the whole thing to be bupkis. :D

I think it only works with girls, cause your magnetic field is stronger as you get later into the month and the whole ring thing is more sensitive. That's just what I heard.

I had it done when pregnant with my first child and it was totally wrong. It said I would have a boy. Interestingly enough, so did the ultrasound doctors. I had all boy clothes. I had a girl.

I had it done recently, while pregnant with my 4th child. Still wrong.

But it's fun to freak secretaries out with ... you're gonna have 12 kids! LOL!

God, I HOPE it's wrong! There is no way that I can manage 6 kids - besides, the Lord never gives you more then you can bear, right? :P And He knows my limits and He is FAR greater then the ring thing. Heh heh.

I think it works for those who have already had kids, but not for those who haven't yet, or at least it's not too accurate. IMO (and Lordy, I hope I'm right!).

Jamie, Joy and Amber,
I agree! It never worked on me. It always got the number and order of sex wrong for my kids. I think it has more to do with the days humidity than anything...
