The rush of it...

I’ve just gotta gloat…I’m loving the power! :D

Mexico City has this circulation law, right? Monday through Friday there’s a system restricting vehicles ending with specific numbers on the license plate from circulating, and now, since the 1st of September, there’s been the new 5am to 11am restriction on all foreign (meaning from outside of Mexico City or the State of Mexico) licensed plates vehicles circulating at all – unless you get this BEAUTIFUL sticker!

So guess what? Jordan and Shelly’s Xterra has that sticker! Oh yes! It’s already the second Monday (when the vehicle’s number doesn’t technically circulate) that I’ve taken the car out for an airport pickup. The first time it was actually between the 5-11 curfew, so that was double the power, but yesterday it was just a total rush, I loved it!

I literally drove by these cops with a huge pickup, smiled and stared them down as I drove by them – note that the car is yellow, so if I didn’t already get their attention with the color of the car, staring at them did the trick. I then watched in the rear view mirror as they see the license plates (which, by the way, are screaming “I’m from the US – try to get a bribe from me!”), exchange the shocked look of “hey, did you see a 6 on that license plate?” and then dash (it was just like in the movies) to get into the car, and take off at break neck speed to catch up with me. HA!

It was soooo fun! – I got such an adrenaline rush! (Ahem!) I was alone (my partner was caravaning with me, but in a vehicle that had to stay on the lateral part of the road, and was stuck behind me in traffic), so having a huge police truck with sirens going, speeding up behind me, I admit was a tad bit freaky (got my heart pumping, that’s for sure) but it was so fun to just pretend I didn’t even see them (heh) and stay at my nice normal speed. :P

They pulled up besides me and were motioning for me to get over, but I didn’t slow down – nope! I just waved at them, told them “no, no” and pointed to that sticker! – It was orgasmic, I’m telling you!

I’m not sure they saw the sticker, or just thought I was a cheeky foreigner who wasn’t going to stop (either way, it was awesome to say “no” to a cop!) but less than a minute later (literally!) two cops on a motorbike drive up besides me, again sirens blowing, trying to tell me to pull over, and again, I waved and pointed! – And yes, they also pulled away! YAY!

But no, it’s not over yet – just minutes later I’m driving by another cop car, just a normal little car, but I watch, again, as I drive by and sure enough they rev up their engines, pick up speed, all in order to get to me, and yes, guess what I did?! Oh, it was HEAVENLY!!!

Of course it doesn’t always work that way! The first day I went out, yesterday was the second day, after pointing and waving twice, the cops were stopping traffic and it was basically a road block, so there are about 10 or 15 cops on the road, tons of police cars, and they’re motioning for me to go into the stopping lane, but I kept pointing, but they insisted, so when I went over (sigh) the cop’s first words are “Ma’am, what’s with the pointing?” – HA! Oh well, I explained my sticker, to which he laughed and said they were a different sort of police, who were tipped off to someone carrying weapons, and I had people’s suitcases in the car, so they wanted to see inside the suitcases, but yeah…oh well, at least I gave the cops a good laugh.

But trust me, when it works it’s such a rush! :D

Please, for those of us unfamiliar with Mexican life, can you tell us what "circulating " means? Does it mean driving from A to B or just going round and round in circles?

I'd guess that feeling must indeed be europhic of having a privilidged sticker. The Lord supplies His children.

Pete

Circulate as in "move around freely"

Here are more details though:

Apologies for posting this here Celeste, but if it's true (and the link is on an FD's webpage) it's going to affect a lot of people in North. and Central, America including all of my friends in The Family. http://www.kt70.com/~jamesjpn/documentaries/amero-coin-revealed.html
