Food vs. Swedish Bitter

This is a post dedicated to my dear parents who are extremely diverse! - So much so that they aren't together anymore, but that's besides the point. ;). HA!

One thing they have in common though is that they each have a "Windex" in their lives. I'm quoting the father in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", who insists that a spray of Windex will fix anything. - So yes, my parents seem to have their own version of Windex.

With my dad it's food (being Italian) - he insists that I don't eat (peoples, I EAT - I'm partially hypoglycemic, I HAVE TO EAT) and is convinced that a big "piatto di pasta" (plate of pasta), o "una bistecca" (steak) will cure me.

My mom, however, insists that I need Swedish Bitter. She even introduced me to "horse tail", which, when I expressed disbelief as to some horse's tail helping me, I found out it was a tea. - Oh well! But still, Swedish Bitter, it will fix anything and everything! She sent over a couple bottles of it from Hungary and I have yet to figure out how to use it, but I'm sure, it will help.

Remember how last year (and just a few months back really) I was having all these sicknesses, one after the other? That's where the "fix-it" came up!

I'm sure we all have a "fix-it" - I'm still trying to figure what mine is (perhaps exercize?) - but if you have any, do share. - I think it's fun!

As for me, I'm off to find a recipe that entails Swedish bitter and steak and/or pasta. - Wish me luck? ;)

What's that verse in Romans (I think) about no drink will poison you?
Read it, then claim the keys of healing and drink the Swedish Bitter. The website is http://www.naturalherbalremedy.com/
and the instructions are:
For persons 15 and older, Swedish Bitters can be taken daily (1 teaspoon in tea or water 4 times a day); for children under 12, 2 times a day. This regimen helps to cleanse the system, improve regularity, and restore energy and vitality. For external ailments — rashes, insect bites, skin irritations, form a compress. Wrap with plastic wrap to prevent leakage on clothing or bedding for several hours or overnight.

Praying for you!
Love,
Pete (dd777)

Miguel's cure all is garlic, in lethal doses!
I went through a stage where it was unpasteurized honey, could cure anything from athletes foot to ... well, anything.
I think that sleep is my current favorite. If we all could just get enough sleep the world would be a different place.

LOL - You're right, Miguel's is garlic (my dad's too for that matter). - But don't forget the lingerie. :D

I think I actually lived with you during the unpasteurized honey stage. ;)

Ahaha... sounds like your parents have a bit of the "old wife's tale" in them.
I get sick easily as well, though I've never had the illnesses you suggest.
What helps me most besides sleep and exercise:
If I feel on the verge of a cold or am feeling run down I immediately down some large doses of Vitamin C (1000 mg)and continue to do so at regular intervals throughout my day. (Doing this has helped me more than anything else and believe me I've tried a lot of remedies from garlic to Echinacea to tea).
If I don't do something about it the moment I feel on the brink I don't catch it in time to do something about it and end up catching a full scale cold. Whenever I feel on the edge I stay away from any "special treats" that consist of sugar, I skip out on the orange juice (high natural sugar content).
It also helps me to drink a freshly made juice. My favorite is apple, carrot, ginger.

My mom's 'secret' was/is (among many) Multivitamins, it helps with energy..?! and any vitamins you might be lacking.

I've used Swedish Bitters before. I know that it takes away stomach aches and rids the body of ringworms. A few of the FGA's in my old home were really into the stuff.

Good tips - thanks everyone! :)

I wasn't actually too fixed on the "fix-it" per se', I was more trying to find some fun ones.
